WTF???

Last Friday Dylan fell asleep on the couch for a couple of hours and when he woke up, his left ear was red. I just assumed he slept on that side of his body and that was why his ear was red. Well after a couple of hours Zach noticed that his ear was still red and now was very swollen. See...

So by 10:00 that night his ear was not getting better (it actually looked like it was getting bigger!) I called the on call doctor and they said it sounds like he has an infection and if it wakes him up in the middle of the night or if he seems to be in a lot of pain to take him to the ER otherwise, call the doctor's office in the morning and get him seen. So that's what I did. We were at the doctor's by 8:45 and it turns out that he was bit by some sort of bug (doctor wasn't sure what kind of bug) and she said that she say a kid the previous week with the exact same thing. She is actually one of my favorite doctor's at the office and she said that she was going to give him a prescription for an antibiotic and she also told me to take lots of pictures since his ear was giant. That made me laugh and I told her that of course I have already done that! We called him elephant ear for the day and by the next morning his ear looked 10 times better. There is always some sort of drama going on in our house!! Keeps things interesting don't ya think??!!

Vacation

Hi all! We are back from our much needed vacation to Carlsbad, CA. Everyone had a great time and it turns out my boys love roller coasters! Good to know! The weather was perfect and cold compared to the heat we have here in AZ. We enjoyed a full day at Legoland on Tuesday and a full day at the beach on Wednesday. We even took the boys (minus my brother and his family cause they opted to take naps instead. Great idea only my kids didn't agree!) to a Strawberry field and we picked a bug bucket of strawberries. They were really good but I do have a confession to make. Landon decided that while we were down a long row of strawberries that he needed to pee extremely bad. Great! Why does he always do this to me???? So my only option was to have him go right there down the row of strawberries. I told him to pee only on the dirt and to pretend he is looking at the plants as I continued to pick strawberries. Gross I know but sometimes you have no other options!! Good thing there was no body else around to witness my humility. :) Oh yea, that is another reason why I am thankful I don't have a little girl. That situation could have been messy!! We enjoys some delicious fish, lobster and shrimp tacos 2 nights while we were there as the kids enjoyed Jack In The Box. We also had strawberry shortcake made from the strawberries we picked with our own hands for dessert the last night we were there. It was delicious! I have posted some of my favorite pictures from our time in CA below. There is also a picture of the picture frames Landon and I made from the seashells they collected while we were at the ocean. Thanks to my brother and his family for allowing us to butt in on their family vacation! We had a great time with
you all!!!

Morning at the zoo

Today the boys and I went to the zoo with my dad (Papa to the boys) and had a great time. Take a look at the pictures and see for yourself.

After the zoo, I dropped the kids off at my parent's and had fun getting my oil changed and 2 new tires. I know...you are so envious! While I was waiting for my tires, I thought I would try to enjoy my down time and read some of my book. Who was I kidding??? Somehow I got stuck sitting next to a really old man wearing lots of gold jewelry and a half buttoned up Hawaiian shirt who didn't seem to care that I was reading and started mumbling to me about tires and cost and everything else I could care less about. But of course being the nice person that I am...I put my book away and proceeded to carry on a conversation with this man even though I honestly had no idea what he was saying most of the time. Kind of awkward but not as awkward as trying to pick up a glued down quarter on the ground during lunch hour on an extremely busy street. And that was all within a half hour of each other. Well I guess it could have been worse right??

Passing of Power Ranger the Beta Fish

Last week our sweet little beta fish Power Ranger went to go live in fish heaven. It was a semi tragic event but not as bad as I thought it would be. Landon was given the fish for his 4th birthday by his Uncle Joey. He tool great care of the fish along with help from his wonderful mother of course. Anyway, I told Landon about Power Rangers passing Friday morning when I woke him up. He was a little sad but bounced back and said, "that's ok. We can get a new fish sometime." Cool. Not so bad! We told Dylan later that night as we did the prayer and burial (or flushing!) and he seemed more upset about losing Power Ranger. He said that the fish is with his friends now after we flushed him. Anyway, being the blogger that I am, I took some pictures of our intimate ceremony. Good bye for now Power Ranger. You will be missed.

Landon even cried real tears :(
