Landon and Katherine sitting in a tree
This is what I found in my car this morning:

Monday Night
This past Monday was pretty uneventful until we got home from a day at work (for Zach and me) and a day with Papa & GG for Landon and Dylan. Landon is really into his friends in the neighborhood right now so as soon as we get out of the car he asks if he can go see if his friends can play. Sure! Off he goes on his bike (with a helmet of course!) to see if Chance can play. About 10 minutes later Renee (Chance's mom) comes to the house with a crying bloody Landon. Apparently when he got to her house and she said that Chance was at another neighbors house, she suggested they go to that neighbors house to see if Chance was there. Landon hopped back on his bike and immediately ran into a trash can and flipped over his handlebars right onto his face. Zach took him into the bathroom to clean him up and see how bad the damage was and believe it or not, he only had two beat up lips. How he managed to avoid his nose and chin I have not idea. He also had a scrape on his hand but that was it.

Dylan and I decided to go in the bathroom to take a look at the damage and Dylan asked me to hold him. So I pick him up and he coughed a bit and the next thing you know, we are covered in vomit. Really?? This was beginning to feel like a bad sitcom. I guess Dylan ate too many grapes and drank too much milk at Papa and GG's because we were covered in grapes and sour milk as well as our bathroom floor. Good times. Dylan's crying because he has vomit all over him and we all know how he hates to be dirty. Remember Mighty Mud Mania??? Anyway, D and I head to the shower as Zach finishes cleaning Landon up and continuing to make dinner. Everyone was fine after the damage was all cleaned up and the boys enjoyed the rest of the night playing in the rain that we finally got. What can I say??? That's how we roll!

Mighty Mud Mania
This past weekend we took the boys to Mighty Mud Mania at a local park here in Scottsdale for what we thought would be a filthy fun time. Turns out neither of our boys like to be that dirty especially Dylan. Landon was somewhat nonchalant about the whole experience but Dylan cried and did his best to avoid the whole mud part all together.

It didn't work.

Since the boys enjoyed the mud so much, (notice the sarcasm??!) we decided that we would walk around until the pool opened up at 11am. They loved the slip and slide with bubbles down the hill but the lines were so long for the slide that they only got to do that once. We have shaved ice which was a welcomed relief to the extreme heat and got lots of free stuff from some of the vendors that were there. We spent the next couple of hours at the pool and little tots water play area which was more the boys speed. Sorry I have no pictures of that since we were all trying to cool off as much as we could. But I did get some pictures of the boys playing with a bunch of inflatable balls.

We really had a great time hanging out as a family and I am glad I decided to play hooky and have that experience with my boys.

Inside my head
Have you ever had one of those days (or in my case, weeks) where you have no tolerance for completely uninteresting shit people want to talk to you about? That was my week last week. I have an acquaintance that for some reason loves to come and talk to me about her work and things I could really care less about. Don't get me wrong, I really do like this gal but sometimes when she is talking to me all I can think is, "I really have no interest in what you are telling me." It makes me giggle inside sometimes because I think about the fact that this person has no idea that I am not paying attention to what she is saying and just the random thoughts that are going through my head while she is talking to me. Like...did I unplug my straightening iron, did I remember to bring my gym bag to work and what should I make for dinner. Do you ever feel that way??? I thought so!! Let's hope for a less irritating week for all of us!!!

Last Friday...
UPDATED:
I forgot to mention that on our walk to the park, Landon and I encountered a baby bird that had fallen out of it's nest. Landon started walking towards the bird and the closer he got to it, the louder the big birds in the tree above started to squawk. Apparently those were the baby birds parents because they literally chased us until we were a good 30 feet away from their baby. It was pretty funny I bet to see Landon and I running away from some crazy squawking birds. Good thing there was nobody around (I think...).
ORIGINAL POST:
I brought Landon to work with me since my boss was out of the office all week. We had a great time playing bingo, watching some TV and doing some puzzles. We met Dawn and a friend of hers at Pei Wei for lunch and had a great meal. We also walked over to the park by my office and played for a little bit. See...

Can't wait to do this again next summer!!!

Accident
We spent the weekend swimming and then this happened...
.JPG)
Pictures aren't that great since they were taken with my cell phone but do you notice his nose and left eye?? D thought it would be a great idea to dive face first into the pool on the first step. In case you or your children are wanting to try this at home, not a great idea after all. Let's just say that the accident ended our night of swimming. He cried for a bit but was feeling much better once I gave him a bowl full of watermelon. Remember one of his addictions is watermelon??? Well it turns out that it also heals his pain. Who would have thought??!! Note to self: always have a supply of watermelon on hand! Anyway, before the accident, the boys and I had a fun time swimming and Landon has now become quite the swimmer and diver. He can dive down in the deep end and touch the bottom and really has nice form. Zach worked with him a lot on Sunday and he really is doing swimmingly. :) Dylan of course wants to copy EVERYTHING Landon does and he has no fear of the pool. If Landon runs and jumps in the pool then so does Dylan. Only difference is Landon can actually swim! We have been working with Dylan once he jumps in or is in the pool to reach up and grab the edge. He is doing pretty well so far. No to work on the whole swimming thing. In case you are curious...

here is what Dylan looked like 1 day after the accident. Looks like he was in a pretty crazy fight! Too bad the pool step won.

Sick
This weekend was suppose to a fun family Fourth of July weekend but it turned into the complete opposite. Friday morning started off great. Landon was invited to go to a movie with a couple of friends from the neighborhood and one of the parent's which was great for me so I could get somethings done around the house. I got a call from the mom that took the boys to the movie at 11:30 saying they were back and the boys were hanging out at her house playing. Perfect! Well less than 30 minutes later she calls me back and says that she thinks Landon is under the weather because he is very listless and just laying on the couch. Great. Landon never gets sick and most certainly is NEVER listless! Sure enough he had a temp of 102 so D and I go and pick him up and take them to my parent's house so D could nap while I tried to get Landon in to see the doctor. Well of course the doctor's office is closed for the holiday weekend but apparently that was too hard to leave on their recording. Needless to say, I spent about 30 minutes after what I thought was their lunch break calling and kept getting the recording saying that they were at lunch. I finally got a hold of the answering service and they had the doctor on call give me a call back. She told me that if the fever lasted the weekend that we needed to get him seen on Monday. We kept our fingers crossed that this was just a 24 hour thing since we had plans to go to some friends house for the 4th but of course the fever went on through out the day and on the 4th as well. Zach and I decided it would be best if we kept him home and let him rest. Zach still went to our friends house while the boys and I settled in for a quiet uneventful 4th of July. I felt bad that the boys wouldn't be able to see fireworks so we decided to go to the store and get our own fireworks. They particularly loved the pop it's...

We had a yummy dinner of lobster tails, spaghetti squash and biscuits. It was nice to have that time with the boys I just wish it was under different circumstances. Anyway, after a while in between Motrin doses and fever hikes we decided to take a drive to see if we can find any fireworks close to home. We drove further than we planned but we had great views from my car of the firework show that the Satisfied Frog (which just so happened to be where Zach and I got married) in Cavecreek put on.

Unfortunately, D slept through the whole thing even though Landon and I tried waking him up. Maybe next year. Landon loved the show and even was clapping after each firework went off. It was great to see how happy it made him since he was disappointed that he couldn't got to the party and it was really awesome to have that special one on one time with him as well. We got home and I put the boys to bed and was looking forward to enjoying some alone time when I suddenly felt the need to vomit. I know, too much information!!! Luckily it wasn't too bad and I felt fine the rest of the weekend. Sunday we had another party to go to but Landon's fever was still going strong so I took D with me to get him out of the house and to give Landon a break from his little brother pestering him. Dylan hung out with Papa and looked at his high school yearbook (1967)...

did some swimming, ate lots of his favorite fruits and played with some friends. I have to admit that it was nice to finally get out of the house and socialize and I am pretty sure D felt the same way. Landon and Zach took the time while we were out to get started on a 500 piece puzzle that Papa bought Landon. Landon has been trying to work on the puzzle for about a week now but every time he's start, D would come up and destroy it. They managed to get the whole outline done before we got home!! The rest of the night was pretty uneventful other than Landon waking up at 3am and asking me to get him some fresh water since the water bottle he had had been sitting around for like 2 days (his words not mine!) and then he tried to convince me that he had enough sleep and wanted to stay up and watch TV. Nice try! Then D woke up screaming bloody murder at 5am and Zach got him back to bed pretty quickly. Zach took Landon to the doctor this morning and they told him that a fever that last this long is normal and to just keep giving him liquids. Really???? We had to pay you $30 for you to tell us this?? Thanks. Oh yea...today also marks Zach's second time being unemployed. Let's hope it doesn't last 5 months like it did last time. Sorry this post is so long and informative. There was a lot that happened this weekend! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday weekend!
